Etude House : Play 101 Review

Before June ends, let me review the newest rave in Etude House, Play 101. I bought this a week ago and since I'm planning to feature Snoe products on July, I'm gonna insert his post before June ends. I saw this product on memorable-days.net last May and ever since I have been waiting for it to arrive here in the Philippines since it has been launched in Korea last April.

What caught my attention is their advertising strategy. Pony, a famous ulzzang / beauty blogger was their ambassador for this product. She made 3 different videos with 3 looks each on how to use Play 101. So you have an idea on how to use it. Play 101 has 50 shades and boy if I were rich I would have bought them all, Pokemon! Nyenye. Each stick has a lot of usage, some sticks you can use them as highlighter, some as concealer, lip and cheek color and such.

I really viewed and downloaded each video so that I know which one should I buy and as of the moment, I have #4 and #22. #4 is opal pearl which is ideal for highlighting your inner eyes to have that sparkly ulzzang eyes. Also it makes your nose slimmer somehow if applied at the inner corner of your eyes. I believe it can also be used as eyeshadow since the stick is really creamy so you better put a little amount first since you don't want your eyes to look like disco balls.

The #22 is a matte red shade. I had a hard time deciding wether to buy #12,#21 or #22. #12 can be described as creamy orange red which really makes your lips pop out but since I had a lipstick with similar shade as this one, I skipped it.

#21 and #22 were somehow similar in color but #21 was creamy bright red on the other hand, #22 was matte red, more on the maroon side and I learned a trick that matte can be transformed into a creamy one and not vice versa. Recently, I had this urge to change the way I apply makeup and be vampire ish thus the red matte choice.

Each pencil has their own sharpeners so if you need to sharpen up your pencils, you don't need to borrow also it's convenient since you can sharpen anytime since it's attached to the pencil itself.

Pros:
 -easy to apply
 - true to promise; if matte really matte and if creamy; really creamy
 - has a lot of colors; 50 shades available
 - hygienic ; each pencil has their own sharpener
 - multi - purpose; lip liners can be also used as cheek color
 - long lasting

 Cons :
- a bit expensive 348 for each stick
- few colors available; I'm not so sure in other countries but here in Davao, they only have like 11 available shades in stores and they're all similar like all shades of pink, red, subtle shimmer usually.

See how creamy #4 is? I applied a little force so you can see a chunk of shimmer, that's how creamy the creamy pencils are.

The name Play 101 really suits the product since it encourages us to use make-up as crayons to color our faces to create different looks. Black eyeliner can create a grunge rocker chic look while brown eyeliner creates that soft subtle feminine look, how much more looks can you create if you have this 50 shades. I believe 101 looks are an understatement.  As of the moment, I'm still searching for the concealer, coral and brown shades, which I pray is available on the last shop situated here on our city. I think these pencils are ideal to those people who are newbies in make-up since each pencil is easy to use and multi-purpose so they don't need to buy a lot of different make-ups.
