Review :
I must admit I didn’t get the reason why Crash Landing On You got so popular until I watched it. The truth is I was late in watching this drama, like they were already in the fourteenth episode when I started to watch the drama and since I don’t want to stress myself too much, I finished it in 3 days which I think is a bit slow for my pace.
The drama was under criticism in South Korea for glamorizing and romanticizing North Korea to the extent that last January 22, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that the Christian Liberal Party submitted a complaint against tvN for beautifying North Korea and depicting their army as a peaceful figure.
Even though it’s a bit of fantasy if you ask me, there are a lot of reasons why I think the drama is worth watching.
I like the storyline, I find it unique unlike DOTS (Descendants of the Sun) (another drama that I don’t get why it was so hyped even after finishing the drama) and thanked God Hyun Bin oppa didn’t receive the role. I heard he was offered the role of Yoo Si Jin.
I know the drama will be good since the actors are well known in the industry but I didn’t know if they have a good chemistry together.I have yet to watch their first film “The Negotiation”.
I watched a decent amount of Hyun Bin dramas and films and my personal favourite would be his role in Secret Garden (Kim Joo Won) but I think with his role in Crash Landing it would be my second favorite after Kim Joo Won, Kim Joo Won being first for being funny. If you haven't watched Secret Garden then I suggest you should also check it out.
After watching the drama, not only was the drama good but the chemistry is great to the extent I wish they do date in real life.
The drama would make you feel a lot of mixed emotions which makes me believe that the drama is well rounded.
I also love how diverse the characters are most especially the North Korean squad. One is a baby considering he is still a new soldier and he misses his mom and family a lot, another one is a good looking soldier when he himself isn’t aware how good looking he is, another one is a bit self absorbed but passionate and loyal while the last one is a korean drama addict who I can relate the most.
The village ahjummas are also worth mentioning since they are so cute and sometimes annoying but they will surely make you laugh with their antics.
I also love how it tackles about family which I think is another reason why Filipinos love this drama.
I suggest that if you’re hesitant to watch this drama then watch the first episode and I swear you’ll get addicted to it. Another reason why I think it’s popular is because it’s available on Netflix which makes it more available to people who are not even Korean drama fans.
Will I watch it again? Definitely yes if I have extra time considering I am catching up on anime and new dramas that are still airing in Korea as of the moment.
