Budget Friendly Hotel and Flight to Book When Attending Concerts in the Metro
Ever since the pandemic “ended”, concerts from local and international artists have been popping out every week, a part of me wishes to live in Manila for 2-3 years just to attend concerts because living in Davao City means I have to spend more money to see my favorite artists live.
Securing a ticket for a concert is just one of the challenges I need to overcome whenever I decide to attend a concert. Given that I'm financially ready,2 of the other main concerns I have to deal with are plane tickets and accommodation. As someone who loves great deals and savings, I’m going to share with you some tips so that you can get the most out of your money.
1. Book ahead of time
Or book plane tickets and accommodation as soon as the concert dates are finalized. This may be a gamble but the nearer the date you’re going to book your flight to your flying date, the more it gets expensive. This principle also applies to accommodation.
My personal tip is that NEVER fly on the day of the concert. Delays and emergencies may happen so if you're days earlier than the concert date, the possibility of you attending the concert has a bigger probability.
If possible fly at least 2-3 days before the concert and fly in the morning. During typhoons, usually morning flights are on schedule while afternoon and evening flights are delayed.
If you're really on a budget, I noticed Cebu Pacific's cheapest flights fly 12 midnight onwards so maybe you want to check that out or whenever there are Ceb Super Pass sales, buy a couple of those. There's an ongoing promo with Cebu Pacific so you might want to check that out for your future concert travels.
2. Include your luggage allowance
Unless you’re a super light traveler,7kgs of FREE luggage is not gonna work so it’s better to add luggage when booking and save money because buying additional luggage space at the airport is very expensive and can cause stress because you’re anxious if your baggage allowance is enough.
Whenever I go to concerts, I stay at least 5 days in Manila so the 20kg baggage allowance is essential for me, I may not fill up my bag on my way to Manila but I will definitely fill it up with merchandise or pasalubong when I get home to Davao.
With Cebu Pacific, you can add luggage 2 hours before your flight and save as much as 64%.
When I travel wherever, if I feel that my prepaid luggage will not be enough, I buy an additional luggage allowance as soon as I can just to ensure that my luggage will definitely be accommodated.
3. Choose the best accommodation
Airbnb or a hotel? Both have pros and cons and it depends on what you need at want during that specific vacation so I'll leave it to your discretion.
You need to choose the best location so that it will not be too far from the concert location and take into consideration the taxi fare you need to spend every time you need to go somewhere.
I recently stayed at GoHotels Mandaluyong and booked the Superior Queen that's good for 2 people. I love the experience that I need to share it.
GoHotels currently has 17 hotels and counting all over the Philippines and their rates start around P1400 excluding taxes and charges good for one person.
It's not only ideal for budget travelers but also for someone who wants to do a staycation. They currently have a 10% discount if you book your stay using their official website, GoHotels. I even availed their free breakfast even though I don't eat breakfast and for the price they offer you,it's super worth it. They offer free towels, basic toiletries, and free water for their guests.
4. Compare prices
This may be a hassle to some but comparing prices with different booking websites makes a difference especially if there’s an ongoing promotion on one specific website. Even if you’re sure of staying in that specific hotel, it’s better to check the rates of that hotel on different booking websites just to make sure you’re getting the best deal available.
5. Enjoy the concert experience
Challenges may come your way but don't give up until the last minute because all your hardships will be worth it once you see your favorite group. I even flew to Manila last April for a concert I didn't have a concert ticket,I told myself that if it's meant to be I'll be able to see them one way or another and I will not give up until the concert started. The night before, the organizer miraculously chose my friend and I to buy the obstructed view seats and I must say it's more than what I asked for.
That's my 5 tips in relation to Budget Friendly Hotel and Flight to Book When Attending Concerts in the Metro and I hope it gave you an idea on what to plan for your next concert.
