Unveiling the Sustainable Vision of Gawad Madiskarte Awards
The awards that honor mompreneurs, Madiskarte Moms PH (MMPH)'s Gawad Madiskarte powered by PLDT Home, are back! This year, MMPH is highlighting companies that support sustainability in addition to diligent and accomplished mothers.
Amidst the current economic and environmental issues confronting the Philippines, Gawad Madiskarte is searching for mompreneurs who are setting a positive example and proving that sustainable business methods are not only feasible but also profitable. Gawad Madiskarte aims to encourage other business owners and entrepreneurs to build a more promising and sustainable future for everybody by recognizing and honoring these forward-thinking women.Plastic waste and marine pollution are two of the Philippines' most urgent environmental challenges in 2024, according to a report by earth.org. The nation has an inadequate waste management system and is heavily dependent on single-use plastics, which produce 2.7 million tons of waste annually—a issue the World Bank refers to as "staggering." Additionally, according to the World Bank, 20% of this plastic garbage ends up in Philippine waters, putting marine biodiversity at risk.
The three main prizes for this year are: Diskarteng Eco-Friendly, which goes to the mompreneur who is setting the standard for environmental responsibility and inventing green solutions with vision and advancement; Diskarteng Angat, which goes to the mompreneur who grows her business's sales extraordinary while setting the standard for sustainability; and Diskarteng May Puso, which goes to the mompreneur who makes a positive impact in her communities by carrying out her social responsibility.
For each major prize, two winners will be chosen. The Start-Up category will produce one champion, while the Scale Up category will produce the other. A mompreneur's business must be operating for at least six months to qualify for the Start Up category, and at least thirteen months to qualify for the Scale Up category, with supporting documentation such DTI and BIR permits. Additionally, owners need to have social media accounts and an online store on all e-commerce platforms.
