Kadayawan Festival: A Fun Look at Davao’s Heritage

A sensory extravaganza, the 39th Kadayawan Festival, powered by PLDT Home, is sure to be a traveler's and content creator's paradise as they get a firsthand look at the vibrant local culture during Davao City's "King of Festivals."

The Kadayawan Festival offers both domestic and foreign guests the opportunity to enjoy the stunning sights, sounds, and cuisine of the area from August 7 to August 18. The 11th Kadayawan Festival contains
the Bagobo-Tagabawa, Sama, Ata, Tausug, Bagobo, Iranun, Kagan, Maranao, Matigsalug, Obu Manuvu, and Maguindanaon tribes or indigenous inhabitants of Davao. It's the contemporary, metropolitan version of their joyous enjoyment of an abundant crop.

The highly anticipated Hiyas ng Kadayawan pageant is one of the many exciting activities being held in the city by PLDT Home, a proud partner of this year's Kadayawan Festival.

On August 16, PLDT Home bestows upon Jane Rose Miones, a representative of the Bagobo-Plata tribe, the title of "Hiyas ng PLDT" at the Hiyas ng Kadayawan, an exclusive beauty competition that seeks the contemporary Davaoeña who exemplifies what makes a great role model. Showcasing their unique tribe, young and accomplished women from Davao's eleven communities vie for the title. For example, singing and dancing like singkil, a vibrant folk dance from the Maranao people, are part of the talent competition.

Chelsea Manalo, Miss Universe Philippines 2024, attended the media luncheon last August 17 to highlight PLDT Home's terrific Kadayawan Festival programs. Manalo unveiled the Kadayawan Festival sale
