Celebrate Masskara and Protect the Environment with Coca-Cola

During the 45th Masskara Festival, which took place in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, from October 11–27, 2024, Coca-Cola Philippines and the Bacolod City Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) partnered to promote PET plastic bottle segregation and collection. By helping to separate and collect used PET bottles, the beverage firm, in collaboration with Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies, Inc. and Yuhum Foundation, the festival organizer, encouraged attendees to practice responsible waste management.

Coca-Cola Philippines urged festival goers to dispose of their empty PET bottles at the Coca-Cola bottle counter and The Tindahan Extra Mile (TEM) exchange booths at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) in order to promote bottle collection and segregation. In order to take part in other games and activities, attendees also traded empty bottles.

The MassKara mask-making competition, where attendees used bottle caps to vote for the Best Recycled Mask on exhibit, was one of the festival's highlights. The Negrese Artist Circle and Bacolod City College won consolation, while Artisticrew was declared the grand champion.

Attendees also enjoyed participating in the "Dunk, Not Junk" basketball game, where they had the opportunity to show off their shooting skills and win a selection of Coca-Cola merchandise and other exciting prizes.

Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc. (CCBPI) presented "Tapon to Ipon: Basta Klaro, Panalo!" their premier statewide collecting initiative by utilizing a temporary collection booth. Tapon to Ipon, which is in its second year at the MassKara Festival, asked participants to donate used clear PET plastic bottles of any brand in order to be entered to win prizes.

During the festival's closing program, Ruby Biro, Senior Franchise Operations Manager of Coca-Cola Philippines, commended all the local barangays and partners who helped make the waste management effort a success. She stressed the significance of community involvement and how festival attendees can celebrate while having a beneficial environmental impact.
